Electric Cars & Inflection Points
What a rush in electric car news last week. When things pile up in a certain area, it could be a trend, but it could also be an inflection point. Let’s watch this electric car meme for a few months as an example.
Spotting a trend can be useful in predicting, because you can at least know where to throw your advertising budget for the next few days. However, this could turn out to be an example of what Paul Saffo calls an inflection point; a more dramatic indicator of non-linear change.
Just last week:
2 new battery factories, Detroit and Northern England; Prius reaching a million units a year and the new Auris hybrid to be manufactured in UK; Mercedes announces electric gullwing sportscar, and the first listing on getitwithme.com is a Tesla Roadster.
Trend or Inflection Point?
